The York Hop Store and Malt House News & Offers
2015 November Newsletter
Hello, to all our visitors who have stayed in either The Hop Store or The Malt House during this year or previously.
Christmas is fast approaching and November/December in York is probably our busiest season! The delights of the medieval streets, the festive lights, the independent shops and perhaps above all, the splendour and magnificence of York Minster, taking us through Advent towards the very special services and concerts of the Christmas period - altogether such a winning combination.
We have been delighted to welcome back so many returners this year, but also to accommodate a whole host of new visitors, from England, Scotland, Ireland, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, America and Canada. What makes our job so special is the phone call or e-mail, wanting to book, solely on word of mouth recommendation. It's a lovely feeling to be told that potential visitors get to know about us through their friends or relations singing our praises.
Our two apartments sailed through the rigorous annual Visit England inspections last month and, as expected, maintained and improved their 5 Star Gold Awards. The inspector particularly praised our housekeeping team for their constant high standards - 100% for both apartments. We were very proud to be finalists in the Visit York Tourism Awards once again earlier this year, amongst stiff competition. The prize didn't have our name on it this time but we'll be entering again in 2016 and hopefully will come away as winners. The actual Awards Evening was held in The Railway Museum, which is a fantastic venue and we enjoyed a wonderful night amongst colleagues and friends.
The Malt House has almost completed it's first full year and is as popular as The Hop Store with our guests. We are often asked which is the best, but we can't say as they are both delightful, individual properties with their own special features. What they have in common is a great location, assured comfort and high standards, plus that all-important free, secure courtyard parking.
Have we granted ourselves any more 'holiday time' in our York apartments? Well, not really. We stayed for one night in The Malt House this year and we'll probably plan a night or two in The Hop Store in January. We love both of them. We generally offer our offspring a weekend at less busy times.
Make it York has a fantastic programme lined up for 2016. As a holiday/ short break destination, I can't think of a friendlier, more interesting city in the UK. We do hope you'll plan to visit us again.
The Foster Family wishes you all a Very Happy Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous and healthy New Year.
